Hmm indeed. A few more things to check before you contact Tech Support (who will be happy to exchange a bad board):
The avrdude “did not find USB device ‘usb’” error feels like a FTDI problem. This line should reference COM7. Have you selected COM7 in the Arduino IDE tools / serial port menu?
Are you using a 5V FTDI? (the Sequencer needs a 5V FTDI, not 3.3V).
Are you aware that there’s a silk error on the FTDI header? (BLK and GRN were reversed, so plug it in the opposite of those. The silk on the bottom of the Sequencer is correct).
Stat should be blinking with the default code; if it isn’t you may have a bad board.
